Major Brands Oil Company is a distributor of automotive, transport and industrial lubricants, coolants, chemicals, filters and a wide variety of other products. Major Brands Oil is a family owned and operated company based in Holland Michigan servicing the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, Northern Ohio and Northern Indiana.
Company History
Major Brands Oil Company was incorporated in 1981 by Steve and Pat Klingenberg. Over the next several years Steve and Pat acquired the rights to distribute many lines including Citgo Valvoline, Castrol, Conoco, Peak, Empire and National. In 1990 they saw an opportunity and took it by purchasing a Quaker State Distributorship from Weaver Oil in Grand Rapids. Over the next few years they developed Western Michigan into one of the strongest Quaker State markets in the country.
In the early 90's, with the help of his father, Tony Klingenberg, Steve has also become one of the states largest antifreeze recyclers, selling engine coolants to garages, dealerships and oil changes all over the state. In the early 2000's Steve and Pat's sons, Kyle and Justin, joined the family business. Over the next 10 years Major Brands Oil grew it's distribution and product lines with the addition of Pennzoil and Shell products.
On January 23rd 2009 Pat Klingenberg passed away at the age of 55 from a lengthy illness. Currently Kyle and Justin Klingenberg are managing the business their parents began almost 30 years ago. Together with the help of long term and dedicated employees they are growing the company that their parents started from scratch. They continue to provide customers with first class service, and always keep the personal touch. To this day Major Brands Oil Company is dedicated to the Quaker State, Shell and Pennzoil brands, but still offers all of the major brands and products it once set out to offer.
